From Sue Rosoffs Rodeo Photographs: Cheyenne Frontier Day Rodeo, aka The Daddy of Em All, aka The Daddy, has begun. Today is the first Sunday and Susie McEntire is hosting Cowboy Church over in the middle grandstands across from the bucking chutes between 9 and 10am. Clyde and Elsie are already in town. Elsie will speak for about 10 minutes during the service and Susie is going to sing a song she sang at Lanes funeral, 25 years ago August 2nd. Another circle coming around. Clyde and Elsie being there 25 years later is also like a circle coming around. Tuff is there too for the CBR Finals. And I believe Tuff and Tracys son Lane will be there also - competing at The Daddy! Another circle coming round. This is a photo I took of Lane at The Daddy in 1988, just a few weeks after he won the Challenge of the Champions in Spanish Fork. The Justin Sports Medicine trailer is right behind him. This pay phone was right outside the Ready area under the old grandstands on the same side as the bucking chutes. It was one of my favorite places to shoot in all of rodeo-dom. The light was great!! Once they built the new grandstands over there, that light was gone. Once again, I was so grateful I had been photographing rodeo then!! #WranglerNetwork has been doing the Remembering Lane, 25 Years in 25 Days series leading up to July 30th and the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in OKC is doing an exhibit about Lane for Day of the Cowboy on July 26th. So I have been going through negatives I shot back then this last week looking for a specific photo of Lane and found these, so scanned them and have been cleaning the scans up... I thought you all would like to see them.
