From Tanggulang Demokrasya The Aquinos are not "Holy". They are "HolyMaws"! CORRUPTION KNOWS NO SAINT Written by Tribune Editorial Saturday, 06 July 2013 08:00 The Aquino clan is not the holy family--- far from it, and the allegation about one of the members of the immediate family of Noynoy of improper dealing should be the subject of an investigation. The fact that Ballsy Aquino-Cruz and her spouse Eldon Cruz, were in the Czech Republic with Pete Prado and reportedly an engineer, Steve Psinakis, in 2011 to visit a prospective bidder in the supply contract for mass rail transit (MRT) coaches is enough to launch a probe. Ask any farm worker in Hacienda Luisita and he would vouch for the fact that the Aquino clan is hardly the holy family and saintly would not be the term that would be used to describe them. The Palace had pitched in, saying that the Aquinos, being the bearer of the surname, are not capable of irregularities in whatever form since they carry with them the legacy of their parents, Ninoy and Cory. Palace mouthpiece Edwin Lacierda sounded like he was talking about a deity in defending the Cruz couple, saying that the detractors cannot convince the public that an Aquino would be involved in taking kickbacks for a government project. Lacierda should be reminded of the Kamag-Anak Inc. during the term of Noynoy’s mother Cory Aquino when most of the juicy contracts signed either had the participation of or brokered by an Aquino or a Cojuangco, including her son, Noynoy. Remember the blueguard security contract of his with his firm getting all the security contracts with virtually all government corporations when his mother was in power? The involvement of members of the Aquino-Cojuangco clan in the affairs of government was also too evident in the recent elections when members of the family taken as a whole, were among the major contributors to allies of Noynoy in the mid-term elections. The resurrection of the Kamag-Anak Inc. in Sisters Inc., is also evident in the posting of individuals in less prominent but none the less juicy positions such as membership in the board of a state-run corporation. Even getting some earlier Cabinet members to be retained in their posts was a handiwork of Sisters Inc. Lacierda also cited the high approval rating of Noynoy from the yellow pollsters that have been suffering from a credibility crisis due to their incredulous surveys, saying that these were incontrovertible proof that the allegations of impropriety against the Aquinos were weak smear jobs, for how can the people continue to support Aquino if anomalies are present in his administration. That was the same argument used in the first few years of Gloria Arroyo, who had assumed the presidency extra-consitutionally, on a platform of good governance. Incidentally it was the same clan that imposed Arroyo on the nation in place of popularly-elected former President Joseph Estrada. The same Kamag-Anak Inc. personalities were staunch supporters of Gloria during her initial years in power. And the Aquino-Cojunagco clan benefited greatly from her Gloria’s reign. The same legacy argument is used in justifying the many decisions of Noynoy that appear to favor his close associates particularly members of the so-called KKK (kaklase, kabarilan at kaibigan or classmates, friends and shooting range buddies). Since Noynoy is the son Cory and Ninoy, that is, if they were truly saints, he would not trade the Palace-claimed integrity attached to the Aquino brand for giving favors to his associates. Thus, KKK members escape prosecution such as some of Noynoy’s associates implicated in the bus hostage crisis of 2010 and the other allies who hang tough in their government positions with support from Noynoy despite the many allegations of corrupt practices against them. Since Noynoy and the Palace will definitely not probe the Cruz couple over the allegations of improper dealings, then Congress may just have enough balls to confront Ballsy, but even the congressional balls are doubted. It would be a legitimate question to ask a presidential sister whether the Czech Republic visit was a leisure or business trip. Published in Editorial
