From Troy Hayner - Summer Music Concerts: Troy-Hayner Cultural Center will present the county band Nightflyer for the Downtown Troy Music on the Square July 19 show. The Nightflyer band will rock the square on Friday, July 19 at 7:30 pm for the Downtown Troy Summer Music on the Square series. Nightflyer is a newly formed group of experienced professionals from Southwestern Ohio, playing a hard driving mix of contemporary and traditional bluegrass. The band’s lead singer and guitarist is Richard Propps, most recently from the group Blue Storm. Rick Hayes is on mandolin, the standup bass is Tony Kakaris who also lends his baritone to the vocals. Tim Jackson adds spice to the mix with his fiery dobro performances. Rounding out the sound is Ronnie Stewart contributing killer banjo and sweet lyrical tenor and lead vocals. These musicians promise to bring the sweet seasoned sounds of traditional bluegrass as well as a hard driving mix of contemporary country music. Presented by the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center. Troy-Hayner Cultural Center will present The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra for the Downtown Troy Music on the Square, July 26 concert. A special treat for Troy this summer in the July 26 performance of The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra. The full orchestra will perform at Prouty Plaza on the square in downtown Troy at 7:30 pm. The concert is free and open to the public. The Glenn Miller Orchestra was launched in 1938 with roaring success and helped to define that original big band sound. The Glenn Miller Orchestra will bring their big brassy sixteen piece orchestra complete with saxophone harmonies, growling trumpets and oo -ah trumpets too. There will be a dancing floor for the public and dance demonstrations. Bring your dancing slippers and a happy heart. Presented by Troy-Hayner Cultural Center. Our final Friday night Downtown Troy Music on the Square concert will be the red-hot sounds of the Red Hot Rhythm Review. The band’s iconic mix boasts dynamic horns, a full rhythm section and powerful vocals. A long time favorite of the Friday night series, the Red Hot Rhythm Review will again fill the Plaza with their energetic arrangements of R&B, funk and classic dance tunes with a smattering of tunes from the hot pop artists of today.
