From a NY educator, historian of US history and an educator, the ignorance, grammatical errors and misinformation are appalling. 1. Slavery has existed on Earth for thousand of years in a variety of forms. In Western Africa slavery was not a permanent situation. Slavery was like a sentence in some cases. Also children of slaves were free and the property of the parent. 2. The Atlantic slave trade was the most brutal form of slavery period. 3. What is alarming is misinformation about Africans selling Africans into slavery. This on the surface is true however what is left out is the sellers did not know the brutality of American slavery because their practice was so different.
