From a good friend and fan since day one, Kyle Mattinson. Feel - TopicsExpress

From a good friend and fan since day one, Kyle Mattinson. Feel free to disagree but be civil. I think it is very important to consider the way you present yourself. I am a fan of this page, and both a liberal and a Christian. As a result, I find a lot of what I read on here very amusing, while some of it very ignorant. One particular phrase that offended me was the reference to "Christians and their book." Imagine if someone said a phrase like "liberals and their science" or "black people and their welfare" or "Mexicans and their fence hopping." All of that sounds pretty offensive, right? While I am not personally offended by the above comment, it does sound very closed-minded. People could and do get offended all the time. That accomplishes no goal, mends no fences and wins no friends. What it does to is enhance partisan bickering, the same way denial of science or the recent "Racism is dead" comment did. By not acknowledging and respecting other ways of life besides your own, you are becoming the problem. In this case, think of your words as a shovel. You can either dig the partisan trench deeper by discounting others, or you can use that same shovel to fill the hole in. Which sounds like a better option?
