From a local Roman Catholic parish : From the Pastor’s Desk Welcome to this Liturgical Year 2014. With so many things in our hearts we receive this new time. First of all, Advent comes with so many invitations to be attentive, to be ready and to be prepared. Therefore, stay awake. The scripture invites us to listen to St. Matthew this year A. The theme always of this evangelist is very close to the life of Jesus’ humanity. St. Matthew has a particular personality as a follower and a great listener; something that we are not. In the event of the flood in Noah’s days the gospel says people were called to change and transform their lives. But, they did not listen after the flood came. The humanity of this time is very confused with hundreds of things that invade their minds and their hearts. Marital problems, destruction of families, enormous economical debt, natural disasters, disrespect for others and a life without principles or morals. The result is no God in their lives. Now we should ask God to bless us from the beginning of this Advent time that we are waiting for the baby Jesus so that it will bring us hope and the desire to love. Together we have made the Advent wreath with our children and our families. Let this be a sign of hope not only in our parish, but in all our lives.
