From a member: A review of the Phoenix Town Hall held last week by the VA ~ I attended the Phoenix VAMC Town hall event last night 9/19/14 and have some feedback regarding what I saw and heard. I have also attached the distributed agenda for the CVA group. Prior to the event I was chatting with the CVA Phoenix leadership and was quite shocked that their main focus was around appointment scheduling verses the culture of failure and corruption originating from the upper echelon of the Civil Service employees. The focus from the Phx leadership was increasing the numbers and retraining of the scheduling employees. The statements from the acting Phoenix Directors had to do with the IG issues at Phoenix have been address new Primary Care staff have been hired, new leases will be executed to increase space to reduce physical overload of current facilities. The overall feeling was we have corrected the problems, nothing to see here please move along, He did indicate that all employees are recommitting to the VA’s mission I CARE Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence. The forum was open regarding questions and that is where I feel the train left the tracks. To maintain a standard of professionalism from the Veteran community we need to self-police the statements being made in regard to time 5-10 max. Of course there is massive anger and justifiable anger because many of the older Veterans have received death sentences because of BAD care and Gross misdiagnoses of issues. Then there are the Veterans who are drug-seekers, doctor shopping as evidenced by one Cold-War Veteran actively threatening suicide who went into a 45 minute tirade. These rambling incoherent rants do nothing to improve the credibility of Veterans who are suffering from serious medical malpractice. As a side note it isnt just the VA Health Care which has failed to treat SDVOSB and VOB fairly let alone honorably. The entire VA system has failed the Veteran from the health care to the contracting side. The VA is focused on supporting the Prime Vendors and doing everything to destroy the Veteran owned companies doing business with the VA as evidenced by a contract I received from Cardinal Health (a Prime Vendor). This contract was approved by the VA NAC in Hines IL. Thanks, LCDR XXXXXXXXXX
