From a member: My husband has a disability rating for PTSD with the VA. Before he received the rating, he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at a hospital where the dr only saw him for five minutes. The C&P dr diagnosed with PTSD and said that bipolar is not the issue. However, his regular VA psychiatrist and even the staff at his last hospital stay wont let the bipolar thing go-they talk about it, insist that he needs to be treated for it, and havent brought anything to the table to help him deal with the PTSD. Therapy, medication, or otherwise. He applied for a service dog but the psych wont even write a letter to recommend this for my husband. He cant get through most days without a panic attack- he doesnt drive much, cant work, and I just see things getting worse for him. But all the VA wants to focus on is bipolar. We arent sure what to do now-any suggestions?
