From here until the end of the trial, I will be paraphrasing. The trial transcript is a five hundred and fifteen page document and I feel it needs to be condensed due to space and time constraints. I will do my best to make an accurate portrayal of the facts and spirit of the processings. July 11th, 2004, the court is called into session. Judge McCarter gives a brief explanation as to how things will proceed. First are the opening statements. The prosecutor is up first. She states that New Years Eve is a time for change for many of us. For my daughter, it was a time to confess a family secret. She begged and pleaded with her mother to go get her little sister up in Helena. When her mother wouldnt go she told her that it was at about that same age(as her sister was) that I had started molesting her. She said that her mother wouldnt go get her that night because she had had a few beers and it was late. Instead, she called the Livingston Sheriffs office to report it. She gave some graphic details about what was supposed to have happened in a time frame of the fifth to the seventh grade. She admitted that my oldest daughter was a troubled teen and a high school dropout, and blamed it all on these alleged events. (Then she threw in a new twist that never heard before.) She claimed that when my daughter was twelve years old she started cutting herself. She admitted that she was rude to me and claimed I would buy her lavish gifts. The other kids couldnt understand why, but now they know the reason. She said once she moved with her mother to Livingston, she seldom visited me and when she did, she would sleep with her sister so they were both safe. She claimed that now that she told this secret her life has improved. She claimed she did this for her sister. Please, no likes, no comments.
