From my friend Patricia Tinsley. We are the sum of our parts and my parts are Friggin Awesome. Thank your parts daily! Wow. I already knew this was one of the biggest best days in all of my years, for the amazing amount of Godbreezes blowing through. But, we have been anticipating and celebrating this day for another reason. Dana beat Cancers Ass! And today was his Last Session of chemo. Those of us who know him KNOW, a positive attitude had so much to do with how well he responded to the necessary evils of chemo. And no, I am no scientist and not looking to start a medical debate. What I Can talk about is what I witnessed. Like, one of the first cold nights last year when Dana had started wearing a knit cap for warmth, because his own hair was just about to start leaving the building due to chemo. And, sure enough, the first time he took the hat off, and tufts/chunks of his gorgeous blonde hair starting floating away in the air at the auction... he had such an amazing attitude about it. I had to go outside and cry. (which I never told him.) Or, the night we were at the hospital weeks before, he with high fever and unexplained swelling and pain. After weeks of batteries of tests, and more that night, we got the lymphoma diagnosis. Thud. At 4 AM!! From the very young and extremely overworked attending doc in the ER! I was freaked, and hid it by reading aloud to Dana from every magazine I could get my hands on. Dana was as serene and solid as it gets. That was how he received and reacted to the news, and so it bore on during his treatment journey. So, now his life begins, in so many ways. Dana feels amazing. He is chockablock with ideas and enthusiasm for new business, as well as branching off of his own luxury marketing brand that he has been successful with for so many years. He is my perfect idea of a Renaissance Man. He has traveled and seen more in the luxury realm that most of us could ever dream of. I am sure those memories were a juicy comfort, and now he gets to make more. I have never had a better house husband. Never had someone more committed to checking on how I was doing and anticipating my needs and bringing all kinds of thoughtful gifts, surprises, and offering the much-appreciated Costco runs. Electrical engineer, studied horticulturist, mighty mechanic, beekeeper, charming host, dapper gentleman, forgiving soul, champion of the Right, and best guy to EVER have in your corner when the world is kicking you in the shins. (ask me how I know) And now that I corrupted him with the seduction of the auctions, I can add that he indeed has the most wicked eye and sense of art, beauty, and collectibles because I have seen it first-hand. How amazing is it that I am NOT delivering this in a Eulogy? This is a Celebration! A Happy April Fools Day if there ever was one! I love you Dana, and I have not nearly begun to thank, repay, exalt and exclaim how much you mean to me. I get that chance, and we all do. The world is your Oyster. You now get to unleash your wit and talent and creativity; how fitting is this perfect Spring Renewal gift to us all. Indeed, You Are Our Gift. Lets plan the celebration to end them all!
