From the Countys Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Agent- In early July, several cases of Vesicular Stomatitis (VS) were reported in Bastrop and Travis Counties in horses. As of now, it has spread further into Bastrop County, and several cases have also been confirmed in cattle as well as horses. External parasites (flies) are suspected to be the carrier of the virus. Landowners are being urged to manage and control flies on all species of livestock- cattle, horses, goats, sheep and hogs, to help prevent the spread of VS. bastrop.agrilife.org/vesicular-stomatitis-information/
