From the Desk of Frank Rossiter - My America Part 3 The thought - TopicsExpress

From the Desk of Frank Rossiter - My America Part 3 The thought alarms me and I want to write it down. What follows is what I have written. All I have to do is be as honest as I possibly can with what I see happening. Because I’m a Christian, I believe much of what I write comes from my relationship with God. I am first and foremost a Christian. I love God with all of my heart. I believe He loves me more than I have yet to fully understand. There is nothing He wouldn’t do for me that is within keeping with His character. The more I learn and understand about Him, the more I am amazed at His goodness. I have come to understand that everything He does is for my benefit. The big battle that’s going on right now in Washington is over whether to raise the debt ceiling, or not. I know many, if not most, of the so-called smart people believe we have no choice. “It will be Armageddon if we don’t,” they say. For me to disagree with that would certainly brand me as uninformed or uneducated. So let’s see who’s smart and who isn’t. Let’s imagine that I am the President of the United States. Both sides are to blame for the predicament we find ourselves in. We all agree that we have more debt now than at any time in our history. So much debt that it’s make or break time. * The first thing I would do is make sure that all the We the People fully understand the complete truth of our dire situation. Then I would announce that I no longer would seek a second term as President, therefore taking responsibility, as any honest leader should, for our failed state. * Next, I would ask the nation to understand while I begin the process of cutting ten percent from the budget of every department of the Federal Government, while asking each agency to avoid the fewest layoffs possible. A truly shared sacrifice by all citizens would include Social Security and Medicare. But everything has to go toward paying down the debt. * I would insist that all loopholes in the tax code be closed. * I would call for a flat tax rate for everyone, and I mean everyone. If you are in the fifty percent who now don’t pay any tax, you will be expected to pay something. Freedom isn’t free. We all have to pay and invest our fair share toward those things that keep us free. * I would suspend all foreign aid, promising to continue again once we get well enough and are able to do so. * I would begin the closure of every overseas base that isn’t of vital importance to the defense of our homeland. I would bring our brave men and women home from Iraq and Afghanistan by the end of the year. And get out of the Middle East. Period! * I would promise not to play any more golf; take excessive vacations; fly in Air Force One; hold balls or galas at the White House, etc. while the nation is suffering. I would promise to spend the rest of my time in office hunkered down with all those who have been elected by the people until we solve the mess that we have created. * I would request a gathering of men and women from across the country who have demonstrated exceptional skills in running a successful business, and listen, really listen, to what they have to say about how they think we got here; and what they would do to solve the problem and get people back to work. Then I would do what they recommend. *I would ask every company in America, big and small, to hire at least one person immediately, as a contribution and a sacrifice to benefit our nation. No gimmicks, no promises. Just a one time contribution to save our people and our national pride. Let all the world see we are indeed a blessed and special land. * I would open up all exploration of our natural resources to the fullest, demanding in return, the best quality of care for our environment. Remember folks. The E.P.A. is accountable to We the People, too. If they try to stop us from doing what’s best for America, fire them! Of course, the above is laughable to the educated minds that got us into this mess. I can imagine them breaking into loud guffaws if they were ever to read it. “Only a fool would think such complex issues could be solved by such simple minded people,” they would no doubt say. Well, our brilliant President, who has surrounded himself with brilliant minds three years ago, gave us what we now have? If we can somehow get back to the real meaning of We the People and get involved, we can change anything and everything. People! Do you really love America? Do you love it more than you love yourself? More than you love your political party? Are you willing to sacrifice even your own comforts in order to save the Republic and keep it safe for your children and grandchildren? If you have a tendency to want socialism or any other ‘ism, you have the right within the Constitution to live that choice without being penalized for it. However, you don’t have the right to think you can change the whole system in order for you to be happy here. Have respect for what We the People have fought and died for...FREEDOM. America is a Christian country, founded on Judeo/Christian laws and principles. It is etched into every important building in Washington; in all of our judicial buildings; printed on our money; sung in our anthems. It is what has made us a great nation. It’s our very foundation. All are free under its umbrella to live, to love, to choose the life most pleasing to the individual. We don’t have to conform to any one religion or ideology. This is as good a time as any to take on the Muslim question. A very sensitive and delicate subject indeed, and fraught with all kinds of pitfalls. America’s foundation is built on freedom of religion. We want to protect that at all cost. However, I am determined to try to make some sort of sense as to why Islam is different from any other we have known, and our welcoming them may even contribute to the demise of that very freedom we offer to them, and here are some reasons why...
