From the Fredericksburg Area Builders Association: The Fredericksburg Area Builders Association, serving the City of Fredericksburg and the Counties of Caroline, King George, Orange, Spotsylvania and Stafford, held their Award Ceremony and Installation of Officers and Directors at the Annual President’s Ball on Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Fredericksburg Hospitality House & Conference Center. 2013 President, Tim Thompson with the Thompson Building Corporation applauded the 2013 Leadership, volunteers and staff for their hard work. Thompson stated, “It has been an honor to serve as FABA’s 2013 President. Our region is finally seeing an improvement in the building industry. I think our members have a little more pep in their step! There does seem to be light at the end of that long, long tunnel! We are all looking forward to more improvement in 2014!!” After being installed as the 2014 President, Danna Middleton, Charleston Company shared encouraging remarks as she looks forward to an improved market and pledged to work closely with his fellow board members to ensure that FABA continues to provide quality programs and services to its membership. Gary Parker, Central Virginia Housing Coalition (current life director and past president of the Fredericksburg Area Builders Association) conducted the installation ceremony. The following officers were installed: Officers: President – Danna Middleton, Charleston Company, 1st Vice President – Dan Sandoval, Republic Home Builders, Treasurer - Guy Miller-Richards (C & F Mortgage), Secretary - Robert Donovan (Donovan & Associates Realtors) and Associate Vice President - Eddie Payne (Mid South Building Supply) Honored for their commitment to the industry and the FABA were the following: Mel Bates, Title Professionals received the Rookie of the Year Award. This award is presented to an individual who stands apart from the rest in his/her first full year of involvement with FABA. Bruce Reese, Legacy Engineering was awarded the Jules Elliott Legislative Award. This recognition is given to an individual most active in local governmental affairs activities, in multiple localities, and who has supported the interests of FABA and the building industry by contributing, time, knowledge and expertise to maintain a healthy legislative and regulatory climate for builders, developers and associates. Lisa Wescoat, NSWC Federal Credit Union received the Associate of the Year Award. The most prestigious award presented to an Associate FABA member. It is presented to an individual who is dedicated to his/her profession and is recognized for that fact by his/her peers. To be considered for this award an individual must be extremely visible and active with the Association, served on the Board of Directors, Chaired a major committee or served in a very specialized role for the Association. Dan Sandoval, Republic Home Builders was recognized with the Builder of the Year Award. This honor is bestowed upon only those who have impeccable credentials as builders, and are well respected as outstanding craftsmen and businessmen. They must have a deep and abiding commitment to providing quality housing at an affordable cost, be active in the community and their integrity must be beyond reproach. Bruce Reese also received the 2013 President’s Award. Dan Sandoval was awarded the 2013 Chairman of the Year Award. The following individuals were installed as directors of the Fredericksburg Area Builders Association: Builder Directors: Sean Halsey(Halsey Homes), David Elsey (G H Watts Construction), Mike Urian (NVR Ryan Homes), Rob Shircliff (Quarter Tract Development) and Billy Middleton (Charleston Company). Associate Directors: Taylor Lewis (Lewis Appraisal Services), Mike King (Ray’s Siding), Bruce Reese (Legacy Engineering) and Lisa Wescoat (NSWC Federal Credit Union).
