From the Storm Prediction Center: There is mention of a remote possibility for a brief tornado/ and or damaging wind gust across the Southern Apps region today. ...SOUTHEAST STATES AND CENTRAL/SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS... 12Z OBSERVED SOUNDINGS/REGIONAL WSR-88D VWP DATA SAMPLE A MODERATELY STRONG SOUTHERLY LOW-MID LEVEL WIND FIELD TO THE EAST OF A SLOW EAST-NORTHEASTWARD MOVING UPPER LOW OVER THE MIDDLE MS RIVER VALLEY. A DIURNAL STEEPENING OF LOW-LEVEL LAPSE RATES AND SOMEWHAT STRONGER /ALBEIT MODEST/ DESTABILIZATION IS EXPECTED ON THE EASTERN PERIPHERY OF A WARM CONVEYOR ASSOCIATED WITH PERSISTENT PRECIPITATION/CLOUD COVER. AS UPDRAFTS INTENSIFY INTO THIS AFTERNOON...LOCALIZED TSTM WIND DAMAGE MAY BECOME POSSIBLE. ADDITIONALLY...SUFFICIENT LOW-LEVEL SHEAR/SRH MAY EXIST WITHIN A MOIST/CONFLUENT ENVIRONMENT FOR SOME EMBEDDED/TRANSIENT SUPERCELL STRUCTURES...INCLUDING THE POSSIBILITY OF A BRIEF TORNADO IN AREAS NEAR OR ON THE IMMEDIATE WINDWARD SIDE OF THE SOUTHERN/CENTRAL APPALACHIANS.
