AUGUSTINE 44 CREEKSIDE 8 Box Score Star of the game: Freshman quarterback Cole Northrup threw three touchdown passes to three receivers in the first half Friday as St. Augustine (7-1 overall and 3-0 in District 4-6A) won its seventh game in a row and 10th district title in a row, beating Creekside (3-6, 2-2). Turning point: After kicking a field goal on its opening drive, St. Augustine tried an onside kick on the ensuing kickoff, recovered and scored one play later when the left-handed Northrup hit wide receiver Donald Sapp for a 36-yard score to gain a 10-0 lead. On defense: Defensive lineman Tomas Wright sacked Creekside QB Ron Boyce twice in the first quarter, when St. Augustine held Creekside to 23 yards. … Sterling Uzo and Titerian Fields intercepted Boyce in the first half. Fast facts: St. Augustine RB Patrick Stewart, who suffered an ankle injury in the second half, rushed for 126 yards and a TD as St. Augustine had 222 yards rushing. … Northrup has thrown for 19 touchdowns, three interceptions and 1,400 yards. … St. Augustine coach Joey Wiles has a 178-38 career record in 18 years and his team hasn’t lost a district game since 2003. … Creekside concludes its season at home against unbeaten Fleming Island next week. St. Augustine plays at home against Matanzas and Palatka before the playoffs. They said it: “I’ve never had a freshman quarterback before.
