From the Union of BC Municipalities agenda going on right now in Whistler. Three things stand out as different from the agenda I saw a few weeks ago. On Sept 23rd there will be a session on what candidates need to know for the 2014 municipal elections. This I find a little odd considering that candidates who are not incumbents and/or who are not at the conference will not hear this. Could this be the time they talk about potential changes to school board composition or number of school boards? Nothing else seems to fit the hints weve seen here about a big announcement on the 23rd. The Premiers speech is now moved to Friday, Sept. 26th from Thursday evening. The Premier usually has a big announcement in this annual speech to these community leaders. Watch this one. The Chinese Consulate is hosting an evening social. LNG (who?) is a sponsor and so is Fortis. These folks are spending lots of money to do these things. So it feels like we are back in June talking about the reason for all this mess of a labour dispute directly related to LNG and back room deals with China.
