From the article: The proposed rules wouldn’t affect existing homes, and already apply to newly built homes. But they would change things substantially for homeowners who need development permits for additions or other structural upgrades — commonplace in Elbow River neighbourhoods where a large dump bin can be as ubiquitous in driveways as Lexus SUVs or Mercedes sedans. The proposed rule changes are coming to council Monday, but Coun. Gian-Carlo Carra said he will propose a one-month delay to the public hearing, to let officials and affected residents discuss different amendments to Calgary’s land-use bylaw. He’d like to see the level of required mitigation better match up with the scale of home renovations. “And over time, you’d get a good building stock,” said Carra, who represents Erlton, Inglewood and Rideau Park-Roxboro. #abwater #abflood #yyc
