From the day we are born, we are bombarded with the notion that more things make us happier - better cars, bigger houses, more clothes, more expensive jewellery, shopping, holidays, more things, more, more, more. We have been brain-washed to think of consuming as a means to happiness. In fact, as long as you have a safe bed at night, clothes to wear and food to eat, then ten times more things will not make you ten times happier - giving to others will make you happier. Giving smiles, giving time, giving love, giving things if you have them to spare. If you live to be a hundred and in that last hour of life, an angel gives you an hour to recall all the treasures of your life, you wont remember the things, you will remember your children, your loved ones, the people, the animals, the love, the moments, the emotions, falling in love, the acts of kindness, making the lives of others better. They are the true treasures of our lives. It is difficult to realise that when we are brainwashed by tv, movies and all media from birth to believe that more things make us happier... we have been manipulated into becoming consumers rather than givers. You dont have to give up your things, but it isnt hard to try and be more kind. Kindness and generosity of heart - the two greatest human attributes that are so often forgotten in our consumer driven society. (And this beautiful little movie is brought to you by an insurance company... but the message is good.)
