From the time the retrenchment started in Barbados, I heard some middle class people saying that people like the Drainage Unit, NCC, and all the other people from the low echelons of the society deserve to go home, I have a friend that he thought so to. You see m grandmother always told me that when you leave water running it will find its level. My friend is closely connected to a Credit Union, when the Government decided to tax the Credit Union he took up his arms and is ready to fight because that is his baby, he never thought that the Government would have gotten to him and his pet. My grandmother told me if every time you hear a commotion outside your house and you go and close the window and say its not your business, one of these days thing will get so bad that you cant ever open that window again. All the gains that this country has made over the past fifty years are slowly being eroded by this government, education, health and now your house that you have made so many sacrifices for. I heard moderators talk about there is no sense marching but, unless you can gain something positive from it. How would you know if you can gain something from doing something unless you try it? I was privileged to hear an ex postal worker give us a run down on why it wasnt possible to implement the Municipal Waste Tax before the end of June, he said the Government would have to hire five hundred postmen working twenty four hours a day to make it possible. After the many protest that were made on the radio station this week, the Minister change the date to late next month....you clearly see that protest work. THAT IS EXACTLY WHY THE UNIONS DIDNT WANT TO PROTEST BECAUSE THEY WERE I BED WITH THIS GOVERNMENT FROM THE BEGINING. If the Union s knew they could not represent the temporary workers they should not have taken their money, that is a fraudulent act. I will be at the next march and the one after that and the one after that until there is JUSTICE for the people of my beloved country.
