From time to time, I like to bring out issues that occur within our sheriffs department. It was brought to my attention that recently a state convicted inmate who is serving a very large sentence (you can imagine the charge ) was admitted to the hospital. During his stay in the hospital, Im told that he did not have supervision and that this happened because hes a state prisoner, its the states responsibility. Well, I personally think that is the countys responsibility since this inmate has been in your custody for 20+years. At least until the state sends someone to sit with him. I would not leave a potential threat to the publics safety unsupervised. Is it just me, or does anyone else see a problem? Elect Eric Smith for Sheriff on November 4th. Thank you!
