From todays Herald! Income tax is unfair!. VAT is fairish. It could be made much fairer if ALL of lifes essentials were made exempt; food, fuel, health, education and clothing! Increase the rate on luxury items to 100+%. Tax the owners of overrated art works on their assumed increase in value. Abolish all income tax on earnings below perhaps £40k and pile it on to the obscenely remunerated. Abolish all corporate taxes and shift the shortfall to an increase in tax on un-earned income. This could have some merit!!
