Fruit sugar - Fructose The body cant utilise fructose. It needs to firstly be changed into glucose. This is done only via the liver. A healthy liver can manage this well. The problem is that fructose is now found in so many processed foods, that the load on the liver is a huge problem. Our livers are extremely precious. We need them to detoxify and change toxins into less harmful substances so that they can be safely excreted from the body. Without our liver functioning well, we could be in a lot of trouble! Minimising processed foods will cut fructose intake massively. Keeping fruit intake to two pieces a day is perfect. Smoothies are awesome! Fabulous way to get so many vitamins and minerals in a small easily digestible nutrient powerhouse! The trick is to ensure a beautiful balance in your smoothie. Be aware of the fruit serves and incorporate some protein and healthy fats. This will help to allow slower release of fructose (takes load off liver). It will keep you fuller for longer. You will get a nice balanced mix of carbs, proteins and fats. Below is a pic of todays smoothie. 5 fruits Banana, strawb, peach, cantaloupe, grape Added Macadamia nuts Almonds Coconut oil Flaxseeds Chia seeds Pumpkin seeds The smoothie in pic serves 6 Lots of extra fat and protein plus the fibre from the fruit! Greens are another fabulous edition! I always try to add greens such as spinach and spirulina where possible. Love the carrots and celery too!! So many choices!!! So much goodness!!!
