Frustration at its peak for all people availing passport services today at the passport section of the MOFA in Thimphu, Bhutan. The first day of the new year 2015. When all the applicants who were asked to pick up their new passports on 1-1-2015 came and started lining up at 2:00 pm, the person behind the counter says, your passports are not ready yet, it is being printed now. It will take around 4 hours more to finish all. Great! I thought and went back at 3:30 pm only to find out that they havent started issuing any passport for the people who were asked to come on 1-1-2015. Waited in line again when they started issuing some of the passports as and when they finished printing. Many of us kept on waiting and the staff also carried on even after the 4:00 finish time. At 5:30 pm they were all leaving for some funeral rites. Great! And the G2C system was apparently down too. And I still did not get my passport. Wow! And these staff behind the counter are either interns or junior officials who have no idea how the system could be improved. They take a lot of really bad comments and shouts from the clients. The bosses are inside oblivious of all the action. What is happening? Where is G2C? How much longer before the bosses take notice of the drastic failure in the system? How much more people need to be frustrated? Anyways that was my first day of the new year 2015. Hope it will be better for the next 363 days. Happy New Year.
