Fun Fact: The yellow brick road started at the Palmer House! In 1900, a struggling wallpaper salesman with a side passion for writing children’s books attended a publishers convention at the Palmer House. He had a manuscript for a fantasy children’s book he was trying to get published. He visited every table and everyone turned him down – until he got to the last one. The publisher thought the book had possibilities and agreed to publish it. The wallpaper salesman was Frank Baum. The book was “Land Of Oz.”
