Funny email from Phil no233 Researching sounds for our production and the big men fly.opening at the capital next Friday 29th August. Hahaha... This project is fascinating.... I have a pretty good ear for picking chords apart . I figured that by carefully listening to an AFL siren on youtube that the 3 notes I could hear were D, Eb and A. But played on the keyboard it sounded way off as even if I had the frequencies correct the siren does not sound like a piano or organ. I did some more research and found one of the siren manufacturers on the web. Sirens Horns and Hooters Pty. Ltd (PO Box 79, Moggill, Qld 4070) State that their model 4100CT siren bank has frequencies of 290, 320 and 450 Hz. Hey... That is close enough D (293), Eb (311) and A (440) but not spot on which is why it sounds wrong on the keyboard. By ACCIDENT I then came across a recording of an AFL siren (attached) So all this research was totally unnecessary! :-) Along the way though, I discovered that the MCG has EIGHT banks of FOUR horns around the ground Total 32 horns. WOW!. (Wonder what the fourth tone is...? Hmmmm...) And furthermore...The siren controls are located in the Ron Casey Media Centre on Level 3 of the Olympic Stand and are operated by pressing two red buttons simultaneously. In the advent of a power failure, there is a UPS system in place to guard against this occurrence. Life in Synchronicity is just SO educational! XXX Philip Boug Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19, 20 NIV)
