Funny highschool story: 3 kids from Ajax came over to Henry St HS when I was in Grade 10, and signed themselves in as new admissions under false names. Spent a day going round with their new class and telling strange stories about themselves. All the kids knew but the teachers didnt. One guy called himself Howard Bailey - his name was Ian something, but he was Howard from then on for years and years! The principal was Mr. Edgely I think - he was furious. One of my brothers was in on it and he was hauled into the office and yelled at, but he didnt grass on his friends. Then my mother was furious. Principal: The dignity of the teaching profession has been dragged in the dust. Mom: Well, Im a teacher and I dont feel that way at all. Wheres your sense of humour. Principal: Youre a TEACHER? (in shock). It blew over, but remains a highlight of my high school years.
