#Futurist: The future of cars. It has been a long time since I thought through visions of the future based on current trends. However, I have given this consideration over the years: What I see is incredible. I dont talk to car people... so, I have no idea what they are doing. But, I know what the technology is today. And, I know how I feel. Car technology is surpassing home technology. So, I foresee a new kind of home based on a fusion of concrete and automobile technology. I see traditional wood homes going away, as soon as people realize the flexibility of construction and after market add ons. I foresee Buckminster prefabricated manufacturing ideas combined with modern automotive technology; but, not used for cars, rather used for homes. The reason for this is that the technology and development of trailers and trailer parks seems to be flat. I see trailer parks as an underdeveloped opportunity waiting for disruptive technology. Well, I have the idea. The combining of automobile technology with Buckminster prefabricated architecture and the invention of large scale concrete plotting devices allow for the fast creation of very strong, durable, and smaller homes. These homes can be modified as much as todays sports cars can be modified with aftermarket parts. Instead of going to the store to get lumber, there can be trade and sales in parts that would fit both house and car. Standardized practices in manufacturing would allow a part from a car to be used in a home. For example, I found that a car stereo is more efficient than a home stereo. Yet, the higher end home stereo uses a 19 rack with rack spaces. Whereas a car stereo uses a much smaller standard. Also, there are defrosters for car windows, but not for homes. Also, electrical systems in cars uses harness configurations which are replaceable. Whereas for a home, electrical systems are not as harnesses and are much more difficult to replace. And, almost every part of a car is designed to be dismantled for repair and reassembled easily or with the right tools. However, every home in which I have lived is not designed with repair and maintenance in mind. On the contrary, they are very expensive to repair and lend to the difficult decision of which home to buy. Automobile fusion with architecture is only one idea. THe other is the ability to rank drivers in real time. Current state of the art of technology is the ability for a computer to see and recognize a license plate. We know that some drivers are maniacs. You see the license plate or recognize the driver and remember that is the car to avoid. Well, what if your car allowed you to rate that driver in real time. With the development of augmented reality, increased sophistication of mobile devices, and the ability of a passenger to point a mobile device or a cars camera to see license plates, it is feasible now to rate drivers. But, I foresee something more... I foresee a day when cars allow drivers to do drivetime rating of other cars on the road. If the car has a 1 or 0 star rating, other drivers should be alerted. Also, if a driver is so rated for a long enough time, law enforcement should be called upon to evaluate. If the car is observed by law enforcement to deserve the rating, then the driver does not get to drive that day. If an insurance company investigates and arrives at similar observations, then the owner of that car gets to pay more for insurance as a cause of problems rather than a solution. Also, a higher rated car gets to have lower car insurance expense. The idea that your drivers rating may affect your employment arises as asshats are held accountable, much as they are today with todays metrics of their personal financial management. Yet another idea that is feasible is the idea of virtual advertising tailored to the automobile using a combination of billboards (electronic or static), onboard cameras, GPS, and mobile devices... and ... a little technology called augmented reality. This technology will give rise to an innovation of advertising: buying and selling the right to display virtual information in a geophysical space in any manner. For example, if you have a website that displays virually on the side of my property, that you must pay for the right to display that website, or play that sound, or implement that virtual sense of feel. Why? Because I own that space and you did not render me, the owner, the proper respect. You assumed that the 1st Amendment to your constitution gave you the right to do as you please with my property, yet you never read to understand what it meant. In truth, I have the right to stop your virtual information any time I please... and to regulate... and to license it. Whether you choose to believe me or not is immaterial. It is a true statement. And, I have the right to profit from your desire to use information in my physical space. This will have a negative side affect. It will begin a new dark ages as the poor pay more to be entertained. But, it allows the packaging of products much in the way that some vendors bundle telecommunications and entertainment today. OK... those are the ideas for now. Have a nice day. And, remember to stop using your automobile bright lights when other cars or homes are directly in front of you. You are blinding the other people therein, you zero-star rated asshats.
