GET A DISCOUNT ON PIZZA OR RECEIVE FREE SMOKE ALARMS Dominos Pizza in Franklin is teaming up with the Franklin Fire Department to promote fire safety during Fire Prevention Week (October 5-11). Franklin residents may be surprised Thursday, October 9 when a fire truck delivers their order. If all smoke alarms in the residence are working, Dominos will offer a 30 percent discount. If the smoke alarms are not working, the Franklin Fire Department will install new alarms free of charge. Customers can call Dominos Pizza (337-828-5570) on Thursday, October 9 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. to place their order and be eligible for the discount. Additionally, Franklin fire personnel has teamed up with the Louisiana State Fire Marshals Office to install free smoke alarms for the areas senior citizens. Applications for the program are available at the St. Mary Parish Council on Aging (304 Iberia Street) or the Franklin Fire Department (512 First Street). Applicants must be over 50 years old and a homeowner. Once the application is received the fire department will install the new smoke alarm with a 10-year battery. Senior citizens who are renting property are not eligible for this program. The landlord is responsible for providing a working smoke alarm for all rental properties. However, seniors who are renting should contact their landlord for assistance to ensure that there is an operational smoke alarm installed. If senior citizens have a problem with getting a landlord to comply, they should contact the fire department at 337-828-6328.
