GETTING COLDER AGAIN: A few light showers marked the passage of the arctic front today and now nuch colder air is flowing back into the state. We are headed back to the arctic freezer overnight tonight as the mercury heads for the lower 20s in central Alabama and mid to upper 20s in the Wiregrass. Thursday will be a rather cold, brisk January day. Even with a lot of sunshine we should barely make it up to 50, and it looks like our second freeze will be Thursday night, with a low near 30. SECOND ARCTIC FRONT: Yet another arctic front arrives in the pre-dawn hours of Friday, leading to a windy and cold last day of there work week. Highs will hover in the mid to upper 40s, but gusty northwest winds will make it seem colder. Friday night will be frigid, and the low on Saturday morning will bottom out around 22. COOL BUT DRY WEEKEND: We havent had many dry weekends in the last month or so. This weekend should break that mold. Sunshine will be dominate. Highs will be in the low to mid 50s Saturday and an almost average 55 is in the cards for Sunday. Another freeze is expected Saturday night. SLOW MODERATION: Many folks have Monday off for the MLK holiday. Should be a dry and fairly comfortable day for Mid January with highs in the upper 50s A few Showers could pop up Tuesday with highs around 60, and then it appears we are headed for yet another cool down towards the middle of next week. --Rich Thomas, Doppler 12 StormVision Meteorologist Facebook: Rich Thomas WSFA 12 Weather Twitter: RichThomasWSFA
