GIVE THEM ALL TO JESUS Do you remember what you wanted to be - TopicsExpress

GIVE THEM ALL TO JESUS Do you remember what you wanted to be when you grew up? That was a question we once put to children in kindergarten or first grade, What do you want to be...? The boys often said, fireman or policeman while the girls would answer, teacher or nurse! Nowadays, in this world of technology and move towards gender equality in the workplace, those answers are probably much different. Children now have dreams that, when I was a child, I wouldnt have even thought of as a possibility! But how often did we become what we had dreamed of when we were kids? Dreams often change as we grow and are exposed to a variety of options. My dream has been consistent for as long as I can remember; I love books, reading, and I wanted to be a writer ever since I can remember! But what happens when despite your greatest efforts, you dont seem to reach that goal? What do you do when one event sets you off course for the rest of your life? Do you just give up and let life carry you along from one bad choice to another until you feel your life is just one big mess? In my favorite Bible verse we read, I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord. They are plans for peace and not disaster, plans to give you a future filled with hope. (Jeremiah 29:11 GW). God sees the end from the beginning; He knows what is in our future IF we choose wisely. He also knows what our end will be if we choose badly! The freedom to choose is uniquely human. Animals live by instinct and survival skills, but God set man in dominion over animals by giving him (them) the ability to logically reason things out and, hopefully, make appropriate choices. Too often our choices come out of rebellion against the wisdom of our elders; we want to make our own mistakes, so we dont listen to the lessons they learned! A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:. (Proverbs 1:5 KJV). The older one gets, usually, the more they realize their parents or elders were right about so much, but by then they are living with the results of their choices! The good thing is that God allows, even encourages, us to change course, make a U-turn if necessary, to get back on His path. Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (Matthew 7:13-14 KJV). My Jeanne
