GLENVILLE — A Glenville man menaced police with a rifl e, authorities said. Louis M. DeNovio, 56, of Charlton Road, is accused of making threats March 27 and exiting his house with a rifle in a manner aggressive to police on the scene. DeNovio ultimately dropped the rifle and was arrested, according to papers filed in court. Police were on the scene to investigate a domestic dispute when DeNovio told a woman to stay away from the officer, that police were “evil,” according to papers. He then said he was going inside to “take care of this [expletive].” He came back out aggressively with the rifle, but then dropped it and was arrested, according to papers. He is also accused of trying to prevent he woman from calling police in the first place, blocking her from the phone, then later hanging it up as she called, according to papers. DeNovio was charged with menacing a police officer, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor. He was to be in court today but the appearance was put off until next month.
