GO DODGERS! When ball teams were called ‘trolley dodgers’ Two of the Susquehanna Traction Co.’s open air trolleys pause on the passing siding for the photographer. There were a number of passing sidings on the line which ran from Henderson Street in Lock Haven, near the Pennsylvania Railroad, north on Henderson St. to Main, west on Main to the then Normal School (now Lock Haven University), south on the Fairview Streets, with an “S” turn at Bellefonte Ave. At the end of S. Fairview St. the trolley line turned west on Peach St., made another “S” curve around the paper mill entrance, and the went west on Woods Ave., turning right into Huston St. at High St., (Route 220 where the traffic light is now located), the trolley line turned left. It crossed the canal and Bald Eagle Creek on tracks which were at the right of the bridges, and continued along the right side of what is now Hogan Boulevard and followed the line of Route 64 into Mill Hall, terminating at the railroad crossing. This passing siding in the picture looks like the one on West Main St. between North Fairview St. and the railroad tracks. Note the ‘cow-catcher’ and the hand operated brake lever. Open air cars, of course, were used only in the summer time.
