GOD IS GOOD!!!! Whew! What a race! There was no self-seating, so they placed me as #13 in the beginning of the race. I quickly figured out that it was because they had my 150m time wrong, but there was no correcting it then. The swimmers around me all agreed to go around me if I was too slow in their heat. The swim begins and what do they do? They allow 2 people in the pool! Not good. I take off and head to the end and WHAM! The guy in front of me kicked me in the eye hard at the wall to turn into the next lane. I didnt miss a beat from that, kept swimming, even though my goggles were smashed against my eye and it was in an extreme amount of pain. I get to the end of lane 3 and WHAM! Kicked in the side of the head and this time I tasted blood. I keep going and WHAM..kicked in the chest while trying to swim under the ropes at the end of my lane and it pushed me backwards under the ropes. Ok..so I grab the end of the pool and try to recover from my defensive swim here, then I quickly kept going. Exit the pool and the doctor grabs me to look at my eye and head. That seemed like it took minutes, but it was seconds. The first part of the bike, probably the first 1/2 mile, I tasted blood. It was pouring down rain and the asphalt was slick. Still, I kept my head down, rested on my aero bars, and poured it. Entered transition and quickly left for the run. I was approaching the 1/2 mile mark and I saw a little girl fall and hit her head on the asphalt. I ran as fast as I could to her while the race marshall checked her out. She was crying so hard and asking for her dad, which immediately got to me given my personal situation. I knew at that moment that she was why I was there. I told the race marshall that I would be responsible for her and that I wouldnt leave her. I stood her up, asked her if she could run, and off we went. She was crying so hard while running and mumbling things and I just look to my right and say, What is your name sweetie? She replies with Nancy. I look at her again and say, Well Nancy, I run for the glory of God with severe asthma and now have pneumonia. God puts me here every race for someone and today that someone is you. She just looks over at me with this shocked look on her face, then smiles through that sweat and says, Thank you so much! We continued to run and Nancys breathing became more and more worse. Mile 2 comes and she says, Mrs. Tiffany..can we please walk for just a second? I cant run at your pace and Im tired. I replied with, Sure! We walk 10 seconds and then start running again. She agrees so thats what we did. The whole run I talked to her about God, quoted scripture out loud, told her how strong she is because Gods strength is within her, and we killed it. Coming into the finish I ask her, Nancy...do you know what were going to do now? She says with a sweet grin, We spring Mrs. Tiffany! We picked up our knees higher and pushed harder while I screamed over the finish with her. Minutes later her mom comes to me and says, Nancy told me that she ran with an angel today. I cant thank you enough. I explained to her about what I do and WHO I do it for, and we hugged. Today was again, not about me. God used me today, used all three of us, for His glory alone. Dont you think they wanted me to quit after being kicked? Dont you think the devil was expecting me to quit when Nancy fell and hurt herself? BUT GOD!!! The rain, the heat, the humidity, getting kicked so many times, and still thinking about my dad. But God still used me to touch other lives. Thank you Jesus for today, for Riley running with me as well as Sarge, and for the amazing people you have put in my life to pray me through this journey. What an amazing God I serve! Thank you God for Nancy, Jessica, and so many others. Great day, GREATER God! Keep Moving Forward!
