GODWINK THREADS ACROSS THE YEARS When their son died - TopicsExpress

GODWINK THREADS ACROSS THE YEARS When their son died unexpectedly, author Joe Bayly and his wife Mary Lou received a POEM called “New Year 1945,” by Dietrich Bonhoeffer, sent from the young German woman their son had planned to marry. The poem was of great COMFORT. The story was that Bonhoeffer had written the poem for HIS fiancé just three months BEFORE HE WAS EXECUTED by the Nazis. Fast forward thirty-years. Joe and Mary Lou received ANOTHER LETTER. This time from a Massachusetts Pastor who told of visiting a seriously ill woman in a Boston hospital and he’d given her a copy of Joe’s book, “Heaven.” The next day the woman told the pastor she’d stayed awake reading the book and had received comfort from it. Shortly thereafter, said the pastor, she died. He added that the woman had EMIGRATED FROM GERMANY to the US after World War II. She was DIETRICH BONHOEFFER’S FIANCÉ for whom the poem “New Year 1945” had been written! That was the VERY POEM that had comforted Joe and Mary Lou many years before. •••• That extraordinary story, adapted from a later edition of Joe Bayly’s book “Heaven,” is a REMARKABLE EXAMPLE of how we are connected by GODWINK THREADS on a marvelous GPS. God’s Positioning System. THAT is Divine Alignment! Many good wishes for godwinks. SQ PS: Special thanks to our friends and new grandparents Jane and John Ellis for sharing the book “Heaven” with us.
