GOING AGAINST NATIONALIST TIDE At the end of WW2, our government saw the need to accelerate cultural centrism among the regions. Its peek during Magsaysay, Marcos, and Aquino era. . Today, the Philippines has accomplished this culturally centrist position and successfully renamed tagalog into filipino, and all the other major languages into mere auxiliary tools for communication. . With greater luzon, and even muslim mindanao being assimilated into Tagalog, it seems that Bisaya is the only language that is trying its best to preserve- even reverse- this nationalist process. . Bisaya regionalism is a grassroots movement. Like this humble man who happens to be responsible for the revival of Visayan pop music.
