GOING BACK TO JOS WITH NOSTALGIA! Its long i have been to Jos,the Tin city. Jos, to many of us who graduated from Rotaract to Rotary, used to be the major hub of youth activities of the old district 912,9120.TERMINUS HOTEL was usually the arrival point for youths arriving for either RYLA @ Shere Hills or Rotaract Conferences and Seminars@ Plateau Hotel or Hill Station Hotel. There is no doubt that i owe my major pleasant experiences of Rotary/Rotaract to the lively and fun-filled Jos Rotarians and Rotaractors.Being the city that produced the first communty- based Rotaract Club in Nigeria,Jos naturally had attraction for most youths aspiring to be trained as future leaders.Jos had very informed Rotarians like late Vonjen Gambo Sanda, our first DG, Chief Williams Adjekughele who became DG @ 40,PP. Fab Okoye my mentor and donor of THE BEST INFORMED ROTARACTOR OF THE YEAR TROPHY i won in 1990 as first recipient.Jos also had Alhaji Abdulazeez Badamasi alias GONGONI,Austine Okwuike,Dr Onaviran,Chike Adiele,Sunny Joe Agba who was fond of quoting former UN Sec General, Dag Hammersjog and others. Jos equally produced the best Rotaract leaders in our district-the argumentative Duke Doghor Agbabi,Richard Ogu alias FUNCTION,PDR Efo Anyasi, late PDS Ben Obiozor who was featured in THE ROTARIAN twice,Amina Bako the melodious choir mistress who sponsored herself to the 1987 INTEROTA Conference held in Sheffield England,Elvis Chukwu,Mercy Ayuk Ndifon,Thomas Amkpa,Austin Onyeamachi,Austin Chukwu, and a host of others. In fact, it was in Jos that i was elected a DRR @ our 1990 Rotaract District Conference held @ Museum Kitchen. Jos was a learning ground for many of us!
