GOING, GOING GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN: The hammer falls on a rare auction lot later this month in Nuneaton, the taker is certain to see their life flashing before them. Any bidders for a 36sq ft piece of land - with a hospitals accident and emergency department as next door neighbours - will be forgiven for thinking theyve lost the p-lot. For new business development manager Deborah Palmer has dug up the only grave in the village for the star attraction at Auction House Coventry and Warwickshires public showcase. The last burial plot in a cemetery is Top Of The Lots as ten prize properties are up for grabs at the Nuneaton Golf Club auction. Its amazing what you can dig up for an auction these days, said Deborah Palmer, new business development manager for Auction House Coventry and Warwickshire. And this burial plot is guaranteed to breath new life into the traditional business of residential and commercial property auctions, she added. Id say it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for someone and certainly the most unusual item to ever go under the Auction House hammer. There are no official sold out notices on display but I have been assured - as far as burial plots go at this cemetery - its definitely the last one available, said Deborah whose offices are in Newdegate Street, Nuneaton. The burial plot on Lawn B of Sutton Coldfields Rectory Road cemetery, next to the A & E department of Good Hope Hospital, was originally bought by a mother for her son. But he doesnt want it as a single plot. So thats weve been asked to take the task of disposing of it for him at auction, she added. The parcel of land, which comes with exclusive right of burial, is 9ft long, 4ft wide and 5ft deep and has a guide price of £1,000. It is sold subject to a transfer fee to Birmingham City Council of £144. For the property auction boss its all in a days work as shes gone from fast lane to slow coach . . . and finally to a dead stop. Deborah started in business supplying Italian-made car alarms to dozens of motor manufacturers followed by running a company which designed and made the first insurance-approved alarm/immobiliser for motorbikes. After selling out in the late 1990s she admitted to a quieter existence, enjoying life on the ocean wave in Spain before buying two derelict quayside offices to create a high quality cocktail bar and bistro - before moving to Canada. Her design nous saw her spend four years renovating a wreck of a property on Vancouver Island where she ran a land and property development brokerage. Three months ago she took over the reins at Auction House Coventry and Warwickshire with the aim of re-energising the regional marketplace. Heading up the Nuneaton base of a nationwide franchise which boasts the countrys largest residential auctioneer in terms of lots sold - she now finds herself at the dead centre of a unique auction sale on Tuesday, July 22 at Nuneaton Golf Club. Other lots on offer - strictly of the property variety - range from a two-bedroom terraced house in Central Avenue, Nuneaton, with a guide price of £65,000 to an imposing five-bedroom, three reception roomed home adjoining farmland in Mythe Lane, Witherley with a £650,000 price tag. The property, nestling in the delightfully leafy Warwickshire countryside, has a pool outside a thatched oak frame multi-purpose garden room/gym/office plus a sheltered alfresco dining area - all set in luxurious sculpted gardens. With 37 auction rooms across England, Wales and Scotland, the Auction House brand accounts for 10 per cent of all property auction sales nationally. The company, which is run on a license basis by Auction House UK Ltd, will hold over 180 auctions in 2014 comprising more than 3,500 lots, with clients including local authorities, housing associations, plc landlords, government departments and financial institutions. The company was awarded Best Franchise in the UK at the Estate Agency of the Year Awards for three consecutive years in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
