GOLF ACCORDING TO JIM Moscow American Legion Golf League Results for Thursday, September 12, 2013 Our championship night is only half completed. Old Man Weather had a lot to say about completing all of the championship matches. However, we did have the new 2013 First Place Champions and they are Joe Radick and Tony Suriano. They get the gold medal while Devon Brown and Gregg Ehrgood get the silver medal and overall 2nd place. Inclement weather prevented the start of the match for Overall Third Place. That match will take place on Thursday, September 19, 2013 and that will be between First Half second place finishers Jerry Mellarky and Rich Werner versus Second Half second place finishers Dennis Kelly and Don Mast. There was a nice cookout for league members in the Marjon Club House. Good food, good drink, and good prizes delighted League Players. Many thanks go to Bob Gellesky, our cook; Jack “Birdman” Bird for organizing the festivities, and Julius Evanits who contributed many of the coveted prizes to be raffled off. This will be my final golf article for the 2013 season. Next week’s winners of third place will be posted on the League’s web site which is web3.golfsoftware.net/738/. The real superstars of our league are those who work diligently and daily to make our league function well. Those individuals who deserve our thanks and respect are: Ken Setzer, our president; Rick Rosengrant, our vice president; Jack Bird who is our treasurer and a real jack of all trades; Art Pencek, our secretary; Jack Bird, Dennis Kelly, and Al Bendinsky who make up our Rules Committee; Dennis Kelly and Don Mast who run our Year End Tournament; and our score keeper Tom Algar who is always the last one to leave because he has to account for all of the scorecards. Tom’s computer and scoring expertise is superb. I could not write these weekly articles without his faithful and accurate input. Thanks guys. I wish all of you a happy, safe, and mild winter. God Bless all of you. Submitted by Jim Patterson
