GOOD LUCK BOB Our big day is here! I have made porridge and coffee and fed us. We left at 5:20 to walk to the Subway which Bob took to his ferry which leaves at 6:30 for the race start on Staten Island. He begins the race about 10:15. I have returned to the hotel. I must finalize my strategy for race support, and gather what I need for the next 5-6 hour effort. Several maps, and a detailed itinerary of stations, trains, directions and notes about intersections where I plan to see Bob and hand him bottles or what he may need. First, R train from Manhattan to Brooklyn, d9th St &4th Ave where Bob will come by at about 7 miles, 11:15ish. Then back on train to Queens where I hope to catch him at mile 15, almost 70 minutes later, and then back on the train to Manhattan and way out to the mile 20.5 spot, 138th St in the Bronx. Each point requires the right timing and focus to spot him and get his attention (not easy!) And Finally to our post race meeting point, south of Central Park at a bakery inside Columbus Circle Mall. Bob has a different task- step by step to follow the 26.2 mi course, staying focused but relaxed and, I really hope, enjoying the route, the people, and the experience. I will be here supporting you always!!
