GOOD MORNING JACKSON, Thursday, 58 degrees here on the Ridge. Took a walk on the Ridge and filled my longs with fresh mountain air. Then sat down on the deck and Talked and Prayed to God our Creator and Jesus our SAVIOR....worked outside all day yesterday but musing today realized there is something missing and its the CREEK.....our whole life here in the mountains also always included a creek or Crick as my my Grandma would call it....Both sets of my Grandparents lived up above the creek on a hill within close proximity of the creek...and its been that way for generations here in the mountains...As a kid on a hot day sitting on the front porch we would decide to go to the creek...put our feet and wiggle our toes in the soft mud at the edge...then wade into the cool water and get rid of clothes and lay in it..no more heat...our creeks were not only a source of fun but supported my Grandparents life...they butchered the hog there ....we sometimes bathed in it in deeper spots we fished there and napped on its banks it was so relaxing...I remember my Uncle and me in a boat he built and put in at the deep part and floating while he drank his special drink me with an R.C. cola and Moon Pie....when suddenly a snake crawled into the boat...my uncle in his excitement pulled his pistol and shot at it 6 times missing the snake but putting 6 holes in the bottom of the boat which began to sink..I swam to shore he fell in and barely made it to where I was and making me promise not to tell Grandma about the incident...we swung on grapevines and fell into the creek over and over..our amusement park all in one spot the Creek...when I got older and got my first 50$ car I washed it there, on up the holler I took dates and parked down in the creek with no music just the soothing sound of the creek running beneath the floorboard ...After a thunderstorm and it rose and became turbulent sat on the bridge shooting at jugs and limbs floating by and the creek cleansing itself...there was and isnt anything like the CREEK...I imagine Heaven having creeks that are pristine and all of us coming or going there..as a kid I saw many Baptized at the creek ....camped out there around a fire and ate..roasted marshmallows..Nehi pop, nabs, Viennae sausage, potted meat and peanuts...We lived our lives within sight and sound of the CREEK...So yes I miss it...The Bible has many stories that occurred near running water much like our creeks so they have been a part of human life for thousands of years...we took it for granted but when I need to calm down in life I in my minds eye go back to the creek...OK nothing important today just musing on the things that made our life so enjoyable and the fun we had and didnt cost a dime....Well get up thank God for another day of life....be positive..kind..smile..do something nice for someone else...relax Talk to God through prayer and let your soul receive the answers through meditation....Steel oats today, tea and soon back outside...Will Talk Later....sorry so long a post, I promise Ill try and shorten them....LOVE JERRY....God Bless us all Today..
