The FTSE 100 is called to open lower by -0.21% at 6,627.40 The S&P 500 rose 0.1 percent to 2,039.68 The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed +0.1 percent, to a record 17,614.90 The NASDAQ Composite index continued up by +0.19% to 4,649.19 The Hang Seng China opened positive by +0.55% to 23,883.31 The Nikkei 225 Japan is positive by +0.43% to 17,253.12 COMMENTARY U.S. stocks extended all-time highs, with the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index advancing a fifth day, as gains in homebuilder shares helped offset losses among industrial companies. D.R. Horton Inc. rose 2.2 percent after reporting higher profit and a surge in orders for its fiscal fourth quarter. Zynga Inc. rose 11 percent after analysts at Jefferies Group LLC upgraded the firm’s rating on the shares. Alibaba slid 3.9 percent to halt a six-day rally. Time Warner Cable Inc. and Cablevision Systems Corp. declined for a second day after President Barack Obama called for stricter rules protecting the open Internet. LOOKING LOCAL JSE All-Share positive by +0.63% to 50,675.56 JSE Top 40 in positive by +0.57% to 45,236.32 COMMENTARY THE JSE was firmer on Wednesday morning as it followed a firmer Japanese market and despite a flat close on Wall Street on Tuesday. The expectation that Japan will postpone a planned increase in sales tax to protect the economy’s fragile recovery boosted Japanese stocks. US markets traded marginally higher on Tuesday as trading volume dried up slightly following a few days of brisk trade. US bond markets were closed on Tuesday for the Veterans Day holiday and the Dow closed one point higher.
