GOOD MORNING, READERS, HERES THE WEEKLY EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK IM WORKING ON: The low sun was casting a rufescent haze across the western horizon by the time Elise Geraci turned her car off St.Louis Street, and into her French Quarter carriageway. The passage would take her, as it had scores of the mansions previous owners, to the parking area, courtyard, and slave quarters. For Elise, the slow motoring through the corridor was always a journey back to another time. A mural, painted by slaves almost two centuries earlier, still adorned the stucco walls. Fading, but still there; struggling against time and the elements. Elise had grown increasingly weary in her own war, but a seed of hope had begun to germinate when she read the newspaper that morning and saw the photograph.
