GOOD NEWS: On Sep 18, 2013, at 11:15 AM, Elise Auerbach--AIIS wrote: Dear Friends: I am delighted to inform you of the joyful news we received today--Iranian human rights attorney Nasrin Sotoudeh was released from Evin Prison and is now going home to her husband and two children! Amnesty International is preparing a press release which I will share with you as soon as it is ready. Nasrin was given a prestigious award from the American Bar Association this summer. I know the wonderful outcome is a result of the tireless activism on the part of Amnesty activists and particularly your groups and I want to thank you so much for everything you all have done. Nasrin was the subject of our Nowruz action for the past few years and that generated hundreds of cards and messages sent to her husband Reza Khandan. On another happy note, prominent Iranian trade union leader and labor rights advocate Mansour Ossanlu came to the U.S. with the assistance of Amnesty International last month. I spent quite a lot of time with him in New York a couple of weeks ago and he is so very grateful to Amnesty International for all we have done for him. He has already met Todd and Harry of group 11 which worked on his case dossier. I hope you will all soon have the opportunity to meet him (he is being invited to speak at the AGM in Chicago in April). So once again I want to thank every one and also please convey this message to your local groups. Please know that your persistent activism DOES MATTER and in the end DOES produce results.
