GOODWILL Yesterday, I left the Breast Center in the Pavilion - TopicsExpress

GOODWILL Yesterday, I left the Breast Center in the Pavilion Hospital and the day was more glorious than when I arrived. It was a sunny cloudless day, mid-seventies, a gentle breeze. Given the “all clear”, it was a Blessing. I rang Michael he was thrilled! As I departed the Hospital parking lot, I decided to indulge. A few blocks from the Hospital is one of my favorite shopping boutiques, the Goodwill, it had been years. Like a time capsule, the store looked and smelled the same, old clothes, slightly musty, warm, with no air conditioning. A rush of adrenaline as I walked through the door, knowing there were treasures. I grabbed a shopping cart, intending to purchase, anxiously heading to the back of the store. I have been here so many times over the past two decades, my mother Josephine and my favorite thrift store. We came here often, after doctor appointments, tests, and procedures – she driving me. When my children, Alexander and Adrienne were young, they loved coming to this Goodwill Store, they had shelves of books and stuffed animals. I gave them a budget, what now seems very small, and they shopped wisely. I made most of their clothes; however, many purchased here. These are the treasures I found; two interesting glass vases for Michael, a retro pasta bowl for Adrienne, a gift for Jamie (she will read this) and a handmade, folk art, wood baby doll cradle that will nicely fit granddaughter’s Nicole and Roslyn’s American Girl Dolls. Well loved, Michael plans to restore this gem. I have a feeling, Puppy Girls, Josephine, Frances, and/or Marie will model in the baby doll cradle as well. I am already planning a quilt and bedding for the girl’s dolls. I am still looking for a Thanksgiving Platter, it could be Turkey-style pottery, or just large enough to hold Michael’s bird this year. I will let you know when it finds me! Thank you for the many Thoughtful Comments, your Blessings and Well Wishes about my FB post last night, “TEN HOURS LATER.” This means so much, overwhelmed, I truly appreciate. Thank you for sharing your experiences. My thoughts and prayers are with you that had a different result from mine. Many Blessings.
