GRABE KA SUPER MARIO... Situation Report on tropical storm Mario as of September 19, 2014 (5:00 p.m.) Posted on September 19, 2014 Update Tropical Storm “MARIO” has maintained its strength as it moves toward Northern Luzon. Mario is at 576 km East of Infanta, Quezon It is forecasted to move West Northwest at 26 kph. Mario is expected to be at the vicinity of Calayan Group of Islands on Saturdayafternoon. Expected to be at 421 KM Northeadt of Basco, Batanes Estimated rainfall amount is from 7 – 20 mm per hour (moderate – intense) within the 350 km diameter of the Tropical Storm. The combined effect of Southwest Monsoon and TS “MARIO” will bring moderate to heavy rains and thunderstorms in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon which may trigger flashfloods and landslides Public Storm Warning Signal Signal No. 2 Cagayan including Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands, Northern Isabela. Signal No. 1 Catanduanes, Isabela, Aurora and Cagayan, Calayan Group of Islands Effects AFFECTED POPULATION A total of 104,339 families / 470,323 persons were affected in Regions III, IV-A, IV-B, VII and NCR. Of which, 10,852 families / 40,039 persons are inside 63 Evacuation Centers and 1,297 families / 6,108 persons are Outside Evacuation Centers CASUALTIES Dead: 1 Althea Gaviola – 2 years old, female, from Bagong Silang, Quezon City, was reported dead due to drowning SUSPENSION OF CLASSES Classes at all levels (as of 9:00 AM, September 19, 2014) have been suspended in CALABARZON, Metro Manila, Tarlac Province, Bulacan, Pangasinan, Occidental and Oriental Mindoro, Nueva Ecija, Marinduque, and Ilocos Norte (pre-school to high school) INCIDENTS MONITORED Flooding incident in Calintaan, Occidental Mindoro On or about 11:00 PM, 18 September 2014, flooding incident occurred at Sitio Mabanlik, Brgy. Poblacion (approximately 48 inches) and Brgy. Malpalon, Calintaan, Occidental Mindoro (approximately 37 inches) due to heavy rains. A total of 200 persons were evacuated and currently staying at Malpalon National and Elementary School. Rescue volunteers and Brgy. Officials assisted the affected families Landslide Incident in Antipolo City At about 3:00AM, 19 September 2014, landslide incident transpired at B55 L171, Brgy. Bagong Nayon, Sitio Maligaya, Antipolo City which damaged portions of walls and meralco electric post. No casualties were reported. Widespread flooding in Metro Manila Continuous rains which started on 18 September 2014 caused widespread flooding in Metro Manila and still persists as of 2:00 PM, 19 September 2014
