GRAVE WORSHIP OR DARGAHS OR TOMBS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN ISLAM AND IS CLASSIFIED AS SHIRK! The subject is explained based on the sahih sunnah of our beloved prophet Muhammed(pbuh). Be patient enough to read it as Shirk is the only sin which Allah will never forgives!!.. This is only a part of its explanation... GRAVE WORSHIP WAS A PRACTISE OF NON BELIEVERS Aisha(RA) reported: The Messenger of Allaah (pbuh) said during his illness from which he never recovered: Allaah cursed the Jews and the Christians that they took the graves of their prophets as mosques. She (Aisha) reported: Had it not been so, his(Prophets) grave would have been in an open place, but it could not be due to the fear that it may not be taken as a mosque. Sahih Bhukari Volume 2, Book 23, Number 414 Sahih Muslim Haidth #1079 Sahih Muslim Hadith #1082 Sahih Bhukari Volume 2, Book 23, Number 472 GRAVE WORSHIPPERS ARE THE WORST CREATURES Narrated by Aisha(RA)When the Prophet became ill, some of his wives talked about a church which they had seen in Ethiopia and it was called Mariya. Um Salma and Um Habiba had been to Ethiopia, and both of them narrated its (the Churchs) beauty and the pictures it contained. The Prophet raised his head and said, Those are the people who, whenever a pious man dies amongst them, make a place of worship at his grave and then they make those pictures in it. Those are the worst creatures in the Sight of Allah. Sahih Bhukari Volume 2, Book 23, Number 425 Sahih Muslim Hadith #1076 FORBIDDEN THINGS ON A GRAVE(PLASTERING, SITTING AND BUILDINGS) Jabir said: Allaahs Messenger (pbuh) forbade that the graves:- should be plastered , they be used as sitting places (for the people), A building should be built over them. Sahih Muslim Hadith #2116 GRAVES SHOULD BE LEVELLED AND NOT RESEMBLE AN IDOL OR STATUE Abul-Hayyaj al-Asadi told that Ali (bin Abu Talib) said to him: Should I not send you on the same mission as Allaahs Messenger (pbuh) sent me? Do not leave an image without obliterating it, or a high grave without levelling It. This hadith has been reported by Habib with the same chain of transmitters and he said: (Do not leave) a picture without obliterating it Sahih Muslim Hadith #2115 DO NOT PRAY TO GRAVES Abu Marthad al-Ghanawi reported Allaahs Messenger (pbuh) as saying: Do not pray facing towards the graves, and do not sit on them. Sahih Muslim Hadith # 2121 , 2122 DO NOT PRAY TO PROPHET MUHAMMEDS GRAVE From Abu Hurraira(RA) that the Messenger of Allaah (pbuh) said: O Allaah, do not turn my grave into an idol. May the curse of Allaah be upon those who take the graves of their Prophets as places of worship. Imam Ahmad Hadith #7352 WHY DO PEOPLE STILL WORSHIP GRAVES? It is mainly because of the two misunderstood concept of Islam. I) Verse of Holy Quran [Al-Kahf 18:21] Sahih International [That was] when they disputed among themselves about their affair and [then] said, Construct over them a structure. Their Lord is most knowing about them. Said those who prevailed in the matter, We will surely take [for ourselves] over them a masjid. Muhsin Khan (Remember) when they (the people of the city) disputed among themselves about their case, they said: Construct a building over them, their Lord knows best about them, (then) those who won their point said (most probably the disbelievers): We verily shall build a place of worship over them. Yusuf Ali Behold, they dispute among themselves as to their affair. (Some) said, Construct a building over them: Their Lord knows best about them: those who prevailed over their affair said, Let us surely build a place of worship over them. Many people use this story to support their argument that it is allowed in Islam and that ALLAH likes and appreciate it in Islam. The fact is Allaah has told us about the leaders and powerful people of that time(those who prevailed or won their point), and that they said these words. This does not imply that ALLAH liked that or approved of them, rather ALLAH meant of blaming them and condemning their action. This is indicated by the fact that the Messenger of Allah(pbuh) to whom this verse was revealed and who was the most knowledgeable of people as to how it should be interpreted had forbade his ummah to build mosques over graves, warned them against doing so, and cursed and condemned those who did that. II) GRAVE OF PROPHET MUHAMMED This is another argument put forward by those who worship graves, namely the fact that the grave of the Prophet (pbuh) is in his mosque. The answer to this false argument is that the Sahaabah (radhiallahuanhum) did not bury him in his mosque, rather they buried him in the house of ‘Aishah (RA). When al-Waleed ibn Abd al-Malik expanded the Mosque of the Prophet (pbuh) at the end of the first century AH, he incorporated the house into the mosque, but he did wrong thereby, and some of the scholars denounced him for that, but he believed that there was nothing wrong with it for the sake of expanding the mosque. It is not permissible for a Muslim to take these as the evidence that mosques may be built over graves, or that people may be buried inside mosques, because that goes against the saheeh haadeeths. Islam forbids erecting structures over graves, and commands that any such structures should be knocked down, as it surely leads to Grave worshipping thereby causing to commit shirk (polytheism- associaing partners with ALLAH) and eventually making the one to leave the fold of Islam. The kalimah of Tawheed gets nullified and the one no longer remains Muslim. ALLAH (SWT) Says: “Surely, the religion (i.e. the worship and the obedience) is for Allâh only. And those who take Auliyâ (protectors, helpers, lords, gods) besides Him (say): We worship them only that they may bring us near to Allâh. Verily, Allâh will judge between them concerning that wherein they differ. Truly, Allâh guides not him who is a liar, and a disbeliever.” [Surah Zumar - 39:3] ALLAH (SWT) Says: And they worship other than Allah that which neither harms them nor benefits them, and they say, These are our intercessors with Allah Say, Do you inform Allah of something He does not know in the heavens or on the earth? Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him [Surah Yunus-10: 18] This is a practise which is now prevailed among majority of the Muslims.. Oh People of the Book , If you can think , learn and understand.. Dont listen to the auliyas as they spread the wrong message of Islam.. Wake up before it is too late!! coz Allah guarantees Hell for those who commits Shirk & Hell is surely HOT with No way out.
