GREAT IFE BEWARE! THERE MAY BE A CULT ATTACK SOON Before now, OAU - TopicsExpress

GREAT IFE BEWARE! THERE MAY BE A CULT ATTACK SOON Before now, OAU students’ union has been safe for both staff and students. Recent developments have exposed the high concentration of cultists on campus, and how the President of the Students’ Union has been patronizing them. That the Ibikunle has been hobnobbing with cultists is like stating the obvious. Events in the last weeks have confirmed a long speculation of Ibikunle’s involvement in spread of cult activities on OAU campus. In fact Ibikunle Isaac Motunrayo is a member of Eye confraternity and he is committed to giving his nefarious group a red-carpet welcome to Great Ife campus. Students who have participated in, or observed recent parliamentary sittings in Awo hall café would bear witness to the free rein given to cult-intimidation on campus. Sadly these events are not only encouraged by the students’ union leadership, they are masterminding them. At the first parliamentary sitting held after opening of the varsity, Akuma Dbusta, Izi, Olowo and cohorts, known members of different confraternities, threatened to beat students who dare challenge the impunity of the speaker of the parliament. More saddening is the fact that Ibikunle is already overwhelmed with his relationship with these cultists. Mr. President now moves around with retinue of “bodyguards”, some of whom are not students at all, and they wait around for him even while he attends lectures. Something new and really scary is stamping its feet on our campus. Emboldened by all this pathetic lifestyle, Ibikunle recently beat a fresh student up in Awolowo Hall as well as ordering his ‘comrades-in-cultism’ to join in the beating fiesta. While Awoites insisted that the case be moderated, Ibikunle ran away, and only came back the second day with cultists, who threatened to hit students with charm and cutlasses if they come near Ibikunle. After the cult-attack of July 10, 1999, the students’ union has always had a disciplined security committee that always ensure that cult-activities of whatsoever form are not tolerated on OAU campus. Right now, the security committee of the Ibikunle administration is a cat, which has a fish placed under its protection. To say the least, the committee is stocked with non-students, cultists and notorious moral-degenerates. There is a fascinating story of a member of the committee, called Olowo, who had got admission in OAU and ended up being rusticated for stealing, went to Adeyemi and was rusticated for the same offence. As a member of the Kegite club, he was once suspended for unruly activities and was nearly paraded for stealing last session. Right now, he is a member of the Ibikunle’ security committee. Information has it that the DSA, who is herself a matron of Eye confraternity, is spuriously trying to get Olowo on the admission list of microbiology department. With individuals like that in the security committee, who threaten students with charm and guns, then the impunity with which they handle cases becomes necessary. Agolo Samson, a member of Eye confraternity and a member of the Ibikunle security committee, recently moderated a case of theft and went ahead to withdraw N5, 000 from the account of the suspect under the guise that the suspect would be fed with it (He would be fed with N5, 000 for a day!). This same Agolo who had finished a programme from Federal Poly Ede has a notorious history of rape and theft at the Ede poly. Yet, Ibikunle Isaac surrounds himself proudly, like a pony god, with these morally backward and dangerous elements. The agonizing effect that this current cult presence would have on all members of the university, both students and staff, is certain, if not dealt with immediately. Of course, in bid not to be challenged by students, the Omole administration is giving a free rein to cultism too. And as it consumed Wale Omole, it is certain that Tale Omole would be consumed in the current fire he is starting. In a way, history seems to be in the making again with all factors present. Aside Ibikunle being a cultist (a dangerous peculiarity), the registrar of the University was the Chief Security Officer of the university during the time of Wale Omole. He was overtly involved while Omole was organizing terror on campus as well as cultists to intimidate students. Little wonder why he, Biodun Awoyemi, was selected to assist Omole in this onslaught. Pathetically, Great Ife, the union that is expected to wand-off cult presence on campus is doing the opposite. And as the saying goes that eternal vigilance is the price of liberty: Great Ife must be vigilant and rid their union off these pests and misfit of history. If this situation persists, then attending prayer meetings by 1am becomes impossible, while life on campus would become dangerous, unpredictable and unfree. That is why our students’ union must not be left in the hands of the scum demolishing our values. There is a need for the President to give us a report of the union activities because he is not overseeing his father’s compound. Let students demand now for a Congress of students to purge all this ineffective brats, who could not defend students’ right to constant power and water supply, yet threatens the peace of our Israel. #IBIKUNLE MUST CALL A CONGRESS Ayinla
