Lost Lives of Krome Memorial Prasad, Ananth Tue, Oct 7, 2014 at 8:30 AM To: Rita Rodriguez Cc: Desdunes, Harold , Pego, Gus , Boxold, Jim Dear Ms. Rodriguez, As requested, we are providing you with a comprehensive status update for the 19 ongoing projects along the Krome Avenue corridor. The Department has taken great strides to accelerate the improvements for Krome Avenue. I believe our commitment to improving this corridor is reflected in the Department’s implementation of numerous safety improvement projects over the years, such as the installation of audible raised pavement markings, installation of intersection warning signs including advance street name information, and extension of the “no passing zone” just north of SW 144th Street. Furthermore, as we diligently pursue final state and federal approvals to advance our comprehensive projects, we are continuously making interim safety improvements and modifying our final construction plans to address the concerns of the community. As a final note, the Department is including guardrail in the median and lighting throughout the entire corridor. For your reference, see scope of work detailed below and items in bold letters. Status Updates and Scope of Work for FDOT Projects: SR 997/SW 177 Avenue/Krome Avenue Fast Response Contracts: FM: 43657-1-52-01 Krome Avenue Signing Improvements Scope of Work: The project consist of installing speed feedback signs, mortality signs, flashing beacons in advance of signalized intersections and reflectorized backplates at signalized intersections. Status: The Department has executed the contract on 9/29/14. Construction should be completed by 1/15. MORE TO INFORMATION TO FOLLOW!!!!!! GOD IS GOOD
