GRIFFITH LOCAL AREA COMMAND Issued at 6pm Sunday 25 January 2015 Griffith Detectives investigating the kidnapping of a man who chained to a tree in the Cocoparra National Park last Monday have arrested a second man. The 27 year old Griffith man was arrested without incident about 6.30pm on Friday night (23/1/15) in Griffith. He has been charged with Detain Person in Company with intent to Obtain Advantage. Bail has been refused and he will appear in Griffith Local Court on Wednesday. Further investigation into the matter is continuing. A 24 year old Griffith man has been arrested following Police investigations into a Break and Enter offence that occurred on a Griffith motel in the early hours of Wednesday morning (21/1). Police allege the man broke into an office at the motel and stole keys to a drink machine which he used to open it and remove a quantity of cash. He was arrested at 9.30pm on Friday night and will appear in Griffith Local Court on 11 February 2015. Leeton and Narrandera Police have arrested two men for drink driving offences on the weekend. Police allege a 30 year old Yanco man was stopped in the car he was driving on the Back Yanco Road Yanco about 10.30pm on Saturday night. He failed a road side breath test and was arrested and a subsequent breath analysis allegedly revealed a reading of .207 About 3 hours later, Narrandera Police spotted the same vehicle being driven in Acacia Ave Leeton. They stopped the vehicle and breath tested a 26 year old Yanco man who was a friend of the first driver charged. He too failed a breath test and was subject to a breath analysis which allegedly returned a reading of .177 Both men will appear in Leeton Local Court next month. A 19 year old Narrandera man has been arrested outside a hotel in Leeton in the early hours of Saturday morning. Police allege the man was spoken to about his language and was directed to move on from the area. He refused to do and was arrested and fell to the ground where he commenced to struggle with Police. Police were forced to use OC spray to restrain the man. He will appear in Leeton Local Court next month to face charges of Fail to Comply with Direction and Resisting Police. Two Griffith men have been admitted to Griffith Hospital following a motor vehicle collision in the early hours of Sunday morning. A 24 year old Griffith man was driving his vehicle along Woolshed Flats Road in the Cocoparra National Park about 1am with a 19 year old Griffith man as his passenger. The vehicle left the roadway and collided heavily with a large tree. Both men suffered head injuries with the driver also suffering a fractured collar bone. Enquiries into the cause of the collision are continuing. A 22 year old Griffith man and a 19 year old Griffith man who became involved in a physical altercation outside a hotel in Banna Avenue Griffith will face Griffith Local court in February. Police allege there was tension between the men inside a Griffith hotel which turned physical when they left at closing time. The 22 year old is alleged to have used his belt as a weapon while the 19 year old is alleged to have kicked his combatant when he fell to the ground. Griffith Police were patrolling nearby at the time of the incident and both men were quickly arrested.
