GROWING IN FAITH “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” (Romans 10:17 NKJV) If we want to know how strong our faith is, we have to pay attention to what’s coming out of our mouth. “The word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it” (Hebrew 4:2 NKJV). It’s not enough to read God’s Word; we must internalize it, then vocalize it. We say all kinds of things, but the truth is that we don’t really believe them because they don’t show up in the way we live. You should live in such a way that if God is not who He says He is, we will fall flat on our faces. This means: (1) Looking for opportunities to trust God more; (2) Trusting Him to come through for us regardless of the situation; (3) Strengthening our faith for the tough times ahead. And here’s how we do it: “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” If someone could stick a thermometer under our tongue and take our spiritual temperature, the thing that would cause it to rise or fall would be the time we have spent in God’s Word. Some of us say, “Right now my faith is very low.” If you are the one who feel that way…Then start spending more time reading God’s Word. One may say, “I wish I had the faith of so-and-so.” There’s no mystery about how to close the gap between our faith and that of others-- just log more time in the Scriptures. We have to rearrange our priorities, take control of our time, and put Bible reading at the top of our to-do list. If we are serious about growing in faith, it’s a price we must be willing to pay. Remember, Time spent talking to God is the best time we spent, ever. Have a blissful day!
